Butt'r Makes It Better
The Appalachian Journey team loves a long ride. Unfortunately our skin doesn’t always. In our combined 40 years of riding bikes we have tried an awful lot of methods and magic balms to help alleviate skin irritation and chafing during those "Long Doggie" rides in Floyd Co and beyond. No product has had our backs more than Chamois Butt'r.
Family owned and operated by the Matthews family Chamois Butt'r's original chamois cream is a go-to for cyclists world wide and available at just about any bike shop worth its salt. Some of our team prefer the original or coconut formulas for their gentle touch where @Quadsworth's weathered nethers feel more at home with the Eurostyle tingle. For lady rippers CB's 'Her formula balances PH and artificial fragrence free goodness for a ride experience that goes as far as you like then washes clean of skin and technical clothing with mere soap and water. One of our favorite things about Chamois Butt'rs namesake balms is that they come in an easy to dispense tube. This has the effect of packing away in our travel bags easier while also preventing a double dipping finger putting all our bacteria right into our chamois cream like most tubs!
But enough about the #HappyBits! Some of our favorite Chamois Butt'r products are for the other areas of our bodies which a long ride works hard. A favorite of our crew is the Skin Wash. Most of us keep a jug of Skin Wash in our car with a clean rag so we can spiff up post ride and head straight to the next event, the grocery store, or even out on the town. Skin wash is designed and made in the USA to remove road grime and dirt but also chamois creams, embrocations, massage oils, and anything else that clings stubbornly to the body's biggest organ, our SKIN!
Speaking of clinging to our skin as winter begins to shake our bones its time we pulled out our winter embrocation to keep our stems going strong as the mercury drops. A good warming embrocation is a staple of the 4 season rider. By using natural ingredients Chamois Butt'r has created a great mix which warms muscles throughout a long ride and also seals the skin against the elements in a durable way that wont burn you out of the shower post ride!
